Eight members of Invox competed in the Chicago Regional of Harmony Sweepstakes a few weeks ago in Skokie, Illinois. While we came up empty-handed, we were amazed by the deserving competition and thrilled just to be sharing the stage with such talent. Like true Chicagoans, we are left with looking forward to next year.

We’re heading down to the University of Illinois in a few short days to sing at A Cappella Extravaganza, hosted by No Comment and also featuring the Xtension Chords, Rip Chords, and InPulse, a fantastic pro group from Minnesota. Tickets are available on the University of Illinois quad for only $4(!) and will go for $5 students/$10 non at the door. (Go Illini.)

We got word several days ago that Loyolacappella from Loyola University would be opening our upcoming show on March 1, Intervention. They’re always entertaining, and Ian is an alum, so we’re happy to be sharing the stage with them.

We’ve also added an online store to the site through CD Baby, and availability on iTunes and acaTunes aren’t far behind, so pretty soon you will be able to download our album digitally without waiting for shipping and paying for S&H. Stay tuned. For now, head to the store to pick up a copy today.

Finally, we’ve made some big waves in the advertising world in preparation for the show. You may have heard us on KISS-FM 103.5, WLIT 93.9, or WNUA 95.5 in Chicago (we actually have a radio ad!), or you may have seen our posters around town (if not, help us out—download them here, and post them anywhere you see fit).

w00t! It’s official: Invoxication has been accepted to compete in the 2008 Chicago Regional of the Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival, which is a vocal tournament of sorts featuring many of the best and best-known groups in the country (and, some years, in the world).

We had previously, perhaps a bit prematurely, listed this on our Events page as something we were planning to attend, but needless to say we’re happy that we don’t have to take it down now that we’ve gotten in. Stay tuned for more details on the show!
